About of Snake Creek Alpaca Farm & Village
The History About Our Farm "Then and Now"
We are a 23 acre historic farm that was the homestead for Silas Beadslee, who was one of the original settlers to Montrose back in the early 1800's. On the farm are barns, one of which is a hill barn that was built by Beadslee. This is where the boys for the petting farm live. The other larger barn was used as a textile mill back in the early 1800's. This barn was originally on lake Montrose and back in the 1950s was taken off its foundation and with horses and logs was moved about a mile north from the lake onto Silas Beadslee's old homestead. Then owned by Mr. E.J. Mack who used the big barn as a dairy barn. Also, on the farm are 4 outbuildings which are in original condition, and through the years, have been used in different ways. Today, the old Beadslee farm is now used as an Alpaca farm. We have an Alpaca breeding program with some of the finest genetics in the country. Our goal is breeding for the finest fiber possible. Our boys, with their great fiber, are being used as a petting farm. This gives us great pleasure that we get to share these animals with anyone who has an interest in learning about these unusual animals that come from South America. Their fiber is what they are all about. The warmth and the luxury that we get from them makes raising and breeding them a joy. They are just great animals. Did I mention our two horses? Tori, a quarter horse and Cali, an aribian. We also have 20 hens and roosters running around our farm. Come, take a look and enjoy! Download Our Brochure |
